Red deer hunting in Hungary is considered the pinnacle of the hunting experience. Stags are primarily hunted during the rutting season, which begins on September 1st. After the rut, hunting continues on mature stags until the end of January. During this period, selective hunting of weaker animals is also possible. Hunting red deer takes place both by stalking and from elevated stands.

The fallow deer hunting season in Hungary starts on October 1st. The most rewarding and impressive methods are stalking or stand hunting. During the rut, there is nearly all-day opportunity to observe and hunt active stags.

From April 15 – mid-May, or during the rutting season in late July and early August.

Roe deer hunting begins on April 15th in Hungary. Many of our guests prefer this season because it offers the chance to harvest trophy-quality roe bucks. Hunting during the “rut” (from approximately the third week of July to mid-August) is especially exciting, as bucks can be attracted by imitating doe calls (known as “bleating”). Hunting is conducted both by stalking and from elevated stands.

Mouflon hunting starts on September 1st, with the most spectacular period between October and November. Winter hunting in the snow-covered forest also creates a unique and memorable atmosphere. Due to the mountainous terrain, self-guided hunts are rarely possible. Hunting in steep areas also requires a high level of physical fitness.

The traditions of small game hunting go back a long way in Hungary. In the past, pheasants, hares, and wild ducks were harvested here in incredible numbers. Although the former game density has somewhat decreased over time, there are still hunting grounds in Hungary where traditional and high-quality hunts can be organized.

Well-prepared beaters ensure an eventful hunt by flushing out long-tailed pheasants and strong, healthy hares with their dogs. For hunting wild geese and ducks, our guests are assisted by experienced guides who are thoroughly familiar with the area, flight patterns, and movements of waterfowl.
